Tracy Grammer is a a big fan of The Decemberists, and Colin Melloy's lyrics in particular. "Being that we were still waffling our way out the long winter that was the pandemic," she says, "this song seemed a fitting project." The single had a soft release in 2022 to Patreon members as part of an experiment in planned productivity, inspired by Cal Newton's DEEP WORK. Grammer revisited the song in early 2026 and released this more polished version on a snowy day in late January -- fittingly.
